Random Thoughts of the Day

I know it's been a couple weeks since i've posted...i'm sorry!

Here's some random thoughts for all to enjoy.

#1 - First and foremost....this is for Phyllis Crawford...yes...yes you won. Congratulations.....Great Job.....Yipppeee! Ok..i'm kidding (a little) you deserved the win. I was getting bored of winning every time anyways. Until next time ;)

#2 - I'd like to go to Tahiti...anyone want to join me?

#3 - Does anyone actually watch the Oscars? I can't remember the last time i've watched the Oscars...to be honest..I haven't seen most movies nominated this year...and anyone who listens to the show knows that I see A LOT of movies.

#4 - Speaking of the Oscars...everyone needs to watch this clip. Tell me this isn't the weirdest thing you've ever seen.....we can't tell if Gary Busey (who?!?!) tries to befriend Ryan Seacrest as he's interviewing Jennifer Garner. What do you think?

#5 - My search for a new/used vehicle has come to a halt...I can't decide what to do. I go back and forth between buying brand new....leasing....buying used or just keeping my current vehicle (95 Mustang) until it dies on me. My car has been absolutely fantastic thus far. I'm just ready to move on to something else. Everyone tells me leasing is a horrible idea...but I own a business as well..so it's also a write-off for me. Ideally, I would still take a Prius, but their impossible to find used...and for some darn reason, cost a fortune to lease or buy. I might be forced to wait a little longer for a used hybrid...BOOOOO. But whacha gonna do?!?!

#6 - Is anyone else paying as close attention to the U.S. Primaries as I am? I'm hooked...I can't get enough. Why? I don't know! I would call myself a pretty big political junkie...but i've been extremely obsessed with the U.S elections for some reason or another....will it be Hillary, or Obama??? I personally think Obama will take it...the Obama snowball is rolling pretty fast and it keeps getting bigger as each caucus goes by...I believe he's now won 11 in a row. The big question being, if he does win..who will his running mate be? More to come on that!

AM800 & WFCU Instant Teller Contest

For those of you living under a rock at the bottom of Detroit River. The AM800 & WFCU 'Instant Teller' Contest has been running just over 2 weeks now...and I must admit, it's a BLAST! We've given over $11,000 so far (I think) and there's still TONS more to go! I hope everyone has as much fun playing as we do... Unlike the previous contests we've done on the air, this one is just really really intense! Everyone listening (including us on the air) roots for the contestant...it gives us a deal or no deal type feeling...if only you could see Melanie and I crossing our fingers everytime someone decides to push it further!

As you've figured out if you've tried calling in during Windsor Now..I answer the phones throughout the afternoon. Let me just help answer a few common questions...

#1 - No I can't tell you when we're going to play.

#2 - Yes I realise you've been trying to call and it's always busy...what can I say...there's THOUSANDS of people trying to do the same thing as you are! It's just luck.

#3 - No I can't tell you if we've played yet. You just need to keep listening ;)

#4 - We play a 60 second commercial explaining the contest a couple times per hour....you want to listen for the CUE to call. It actually mentions the lines being open NOW and tells you to be caller 8 NOW!

#5 - PLEASE, PLLLLLEEEEAAAASEEEEEE for the love of my cat Pon Pon (Say it with a french accent) stop trying to call every 2 minutes from 5am-6pm. There's no sense! I think some of you think that by just randomly calling our studio line...you'll get lucky and you'll be caller 8....once i've played the Call-In sounder....THOUSANDS of people call....and the chance that your random call will make it through is very VERY small. You're just going to hurt your dialling finger. Take my advice....keep the finger charged for when you actually HEAR the sounder...you'll have better luck getting through.

#5 - Now....for the big REVEAL!!! If you're reading my blog...you're very lucky! I'll give you a little piece of tremendously important advice that could really help you with a contest ;)

Ok...here it is!

When you actually hear the cue to call......wait a few seconds before you start dialing....I need to unload the first callers from the lines before I take caller 8 (which I take on the second set of lines)......so for the very very anxious people (and the random calling person or persons) they will get stuck in the first set of lines.

But shhhhhhh......YOU DIDN'T HEAR THAT FROM ME!!!
