The Names at the Bottom of my Bucket's List
No i'm not talking about the various things I want to accomplish in my life before my time is up!The names at the bottom of my bucket's list are an entirely different thing. For those of you not completely aware of what exactly I do as an 'On-Air Producer'. I basically run the technical aspect of the show. Melanie and I sit opposite each other. I play the music, commercials and anything else you hear while on your drive home. I also answer the phones and call our scheduled interviews prior to going on the air.
Throughout the years, we've interviewed THOUSANDS of guests on all kinds of topics. Among them are politicians of all levels, company Presidents and VIPs of all sorts.
After having spoken with so many various people. There comes a time when you start (I start) nitpicking at stupid silly stuff. And i'm sure many people reading today's blog will probably think that this might just be one of those things.
Now, don't get me wrong....I understand some people are very busy and we most certainly appreciate the time they give us on the show....but what bothers me more than ANYTHING is when a guest (and not always an "Important" guest) will have an assistant or co-worker dial the phone for them, I answer and get "Hi it's Joe calling for So-and-so....here he is!".
Now I get that you feel important and like to have someone press the phone buttons for you...but are you seriously that full of yourself that you can't simply call the direct studio line yourself? There are times when an assistant is clearly in a different room and transfers the call over to so-and-so's office...that's one thing...but when they call and simply PASS the phone over to so-and-so...now that drives me nuts. That persons name then gets added to the bottom of Dan's bucket's list.
I'm sure everyone is hoping that i'll divulge the names from this list...and I guess I easily could. But I don't want MILLIONS of my blog readers to start sending off harassing emails to the people on this list on my account ;)
One thing I absolutely WILL tell you is that Jack Layton (NDP Leader) and Mayor Eddie Francis ALWAYS call themselves.
To all those of you on this list (you should know who you are!) I've only got one thing to say!
YOU DON'T KNOW JACK!

Thoughts of the Day 'Part Deux'
#1 - I hate the winter season. I'm already dreaming bout swimming in the lake at the cottage.
#2 - With regards to yesterdays interview on 'Stay at home dads'. I'd be more than happy to stay at home with my future kids while my future wife works outside the home! Now... i'm not sure how long i'd last! But i'd give it a try :) Niki (who only has 1 year left until she officially becomes Nurse Niki) and I always joke around about how her salary will be supporting both of us, seeing as Melanie still refuses to share her millions with me.
#3 - For the love of ALL that is blue. Can someone please tell Britney Spears to get some serious help and go away.
#4 - 'Note to the Federal Conservatives' - With regards to the Ford Essex Engine Plant. Shame on you. I hope it comes around to bite you in the back end during the next election which hopefully comes soon and hopefully Windsor/Essex will remember this mess and pay back the favour. Oh and by the way, thanks again for that GST cut. I appreciate the 4 cents you saved me at the corner store. Why don't I give you that 4 cents back so you can put it to GOOD USE. What a joke.

Summer Anyone?
I hate snow! It stinks...can anyone remind me why I purchased a mustang? Don't get me wrong, the car has been absolutely great. I love Ford. But it's not a winter driving vehicle. It was cool when I purchased it at the age of 17...but now..I dread winter (or a wet road for that matter)
I'm still waiting for a used Prius....anyone? PLEASE!!!! For anyone who hasn't heard Melanie talk about my wanting a Prius on the show. I really REALLY want a Toyota Prius (used) I can't afford the brand spankin new one :(
If you know of anyone willing to part with theirs, have them contact me! dgemus@am800cklw.com

Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me.
If you yourself are a male, married to a male, dating a male or even know a male, you will more than likely relate to my next blog. You see, it all started about 5 years ago. When I started producing Windsor Now. As any of our show listeners will know, we often discuss health related topics on our show. With 6+ interviews per day, we've done MANY throughout the years. Whether it be a topic on some kind of disease, some sort of cancer, jaundice, a dysfunction or a mental health issue I now eventually think I have it! (Not really....but almost) If it wasn't for the fact that Niki (girlfriend) is a nurse, I would probably be at the doctors office every other week.
Of course, i'm exaggerating a LITTLE. I am however going to admit that i'm a HUGE suck when i'm sick. If I have a cold, sore throat, sore back, sore finger....WATCH OUT! I'm out of commission for weeks.
Surprisingly, Niki has stuck around to deal with my suckiness. Don't ask me how or why she deals with me when i'm sick.... this past weekend for example, I had flu like symptoms....sore back, sore throat, so cold that I had to sleep fully clothed with 8 blankets. Well lucky for Niki, she had some studying and working to do, so she couldn't come over to nurse me back to health as she normally does. But she did make sure to call regularly to remind me to drink lots of fluids and make chicken noodle soup (Lipton's all the way!) And BAM! Next thing you know... I feel better!
So I guess this blog is about us guys needing to be waited on hand and foot when we're sick...I wonder why that is? Could you imagine our having to give birth?
By the way, I seem to be having trouble getting in touch with mom this week? Oh wait.....Dad must have a cold....
Finally....to all girlfriends, mothers, grandmothers, nurses, doctors and of course...to my Niki. My Hat's off to you! Thanks for everything you do :) We'll try and return the favour SOME day.......

Random Thoughts of The Day
So we're officially back from holiday. And I have so many different things I wanted to write about, so I decided it would be best to just do a random thoughts type blog today...so here they go in no particular order!
#1 - Could the person that keeps stealing the newspaper from my doorstep in the morning please stop. It's really annoying. And i'm about ready to set up a camera outside my apartment door.
#2 - To the person driving the Honkin Black SUV down Tecumseh Road yesterday with the windshield still COMPLETELY (yes completely) covered in snow....a couple questions for you. First of all...what the heck were you thinking...secondly, how did you see where you were going? Sticking your head out to side window? And last....if you're too lazy to wipe the snow off your windshielf before driving a 5000 pound vehicle down the road, take a bike. That way you won't put everyone else on the road around you in danger.
#3 - Turkey anyone?
#4 - Hope you all had a great holiday season! I know I did. Spent lots of time with family and friends. And of course, Santa was very good to me!
#5 - Do you have an iPod? If not, I highly recommend getting one, it's really cool! I was spoiled this Christmas and got an iPod Classic which has an 80 gig hard drive. Now i've managed to transfer all my CDs to the iPod, about 650 songs thus far and i've only managed to use about 2.5 gigs...so if anyone knows why in the world they would need such big hard drives on these things?
#6 - Pass the stuffing please.
#7 - Have you heard the news? Jessica Simpson is working on a COUNTRY album??? Not sure how that's gonna work out for her...don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Jessica Simpsom.........and yes, her music is decent. But a country album? I promise i'll play some on the show! LOL
#8 - And last but not least! To the Crawfords, I WON, I WON, I WON! Better luck next time! And to the Pillon extended family, I should have won. "I'll be back" in an Arnold accent ;)
